of Your Home
October 2005
When
in doubt, GET OUT!
When to
EVACUATE
Fire and Smoke
Gas Leak
Carbon Monoxide
Household Chemical Spill
Make a PLAN
- Establish
a meeting place
- Nearby, such
as a tree across the street
- Outside your
neighborhood (in case you cannot return)
- Have a
plan for pets
- Many shelters
will not accept pets
- Animal shelters
will be overcrowded
- Know and
practice emergency evacuation routes out of each room in your home
- Teach
each family member how and when to turn of gas, water, and electricity
at entry point
-
Practice
the plan
